In a similar manner to Kev's thread, I just thought I'd start one up for people to come in and discuss the art, whether it be style, particular visual devices used, etc. If you like what you see, let me know, but equally, if you have suggestions, don't hold back with those either.

Hey theodore,
Just a quick one, (mentioned it elsewhere)
First great style but you may want to use a different format. either 2x2 or vertical, as its too wide for my monitor.
Oh and get on with some promo icons so we can do your adverts for you, send you some people to view the comic

When we get further into the story, can we have other faces for the icons at the bottom, where he say Forward, Back and other loud things? Nice bit of variety and all. Also, the message board colour scheme.... blue, dark blue and red? Is it a kind of officer/blood look? I'm not overly fond of it.
P.S. I like the new page. I'm getting embroiled...

I'm wondering what has inspired you to draw this comic in the style you have choosen?

Sadly, I fancy myself as an aspiring comic book artist (albeit a poor one, and I certainly wouldn't be ready to even attempt drawing professionally for another few years of solid practice), so the style I've been using on IA so far has been a sort of even-more-stylised version of my regular style, in an attempt to bring a more "web-comic-y" feel to it. My style is still changing quite a bit, though - by #8, it should look quite a bit different, and I can't imagine it'll stay still for a while.

What kind of drawing education do you have?

Absolutely none whatsoever. Formal, at least. I did Art GCSE (high-school exams at age 16, for all you Americans), but that was it. But I've been teaching myself for almost as long as I've been reading comics.

You certainly have a grasp on POV, and can frame a scene... I would suggest some class room time. Not that "teach yourself to draw" online course, but some guidance from an actual intructor.
It will certainly strengthen your unique style, and believe it or not, make drawing MUCH easier.

The latest scene, with all those frames, whose Number I have forgotten already....
Wow. I like it. A lot. Fantastic artwork this week, Ted. I really mean it. I could go on and on about all the things I like, but that would be most of it (and quite unlike me) So I'll just skip to the two frames that are less good - couldn't you have made the G.C.P.D. more real and less square? Couldn't you have taken the burning scene and done more with everything? And that's it.
Now I've been mean, I think I should point out that everything else totally rules, esp. flowers, grave writing, picture from ceiling, last frame man's face, perspective of frame 3, father's face, and the lettering in the text boxes underneath.

So, the question here is: what does anyone think about the art? The style is still changing as I work out what fits, so: do people like the way it's going? Want it to get simpler again?
Let me know what you all think.

I suggest looking at "The Black Heart Irregulars"... the style of that strip may give you some excellent ideas, inspiration and style tips!
